Concor reduces airfreight rates

Container shortage has now reduced in the country, Pawan Agarwal, Special Secretary, Logistics Division, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said at a press meet on Tuesday.

According to the Container Shipping Association, nearly 58 percent of additional (year-on-year) exports have been cleared in March, about 17-18 percent higher than the March 2019 (pre-Covid) level

In a review with the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) and CSLA on April 15, the exporters' body said the container shortage has been mostly resolved due to coordinated efforts, except for a shortage of some food-grade containers for expression of tea, coffee or spices.

This is limited to the southern ports (Kochi/Tuticorin/Chennai/Mangaluru), which the CSLA considers a chronic problem due to import shortages at their ports.
