Corrosion Resistance

SS2205 has excellent general corrosion.This is better than SS316 and SS317 in most environments.

Stress Relieving

SS2205 can be stress relieved at 525℃ to 600℃ for 60 minutes per 25mm thickness.Stress relieving SS2205 contributes significantly to improving the resistance to stress corrosion cracking by lowing the residual tensile stresses.

Machining

The high strength that makes SS2205 useful in many applications also reduces its machinability.Cutting speeds are approximately 20% slowly than those for SS304.

Welding

These grades can be satisfactorily welded and brazed by most conventional methods,giving a toung weld.Welding procedures should be selected with care in order to avoid hot cracking due to the fully austenitic weld microstructure obtained from using matching filler metals.
